Our old pals Howlin’ Rain have a fresh new album, The Dharma Wheel, and holy hell is it a marvel. Funky and proggy, it’s loaded with epic jams the likes of which we rarely see, and only seem to see here at the shop when Howlin’ Rain come for a visit. The Dharma Wheel is a six-track, 52-minute dive into a joyous fantasy realm, a sonic travelogue of prog funk, psychedelia, and bygone West Coast jam music, and it also a major step forward for HR, creating an oasis between the peace, love, and epic jamming of the west coast and the dystopian, dark trip of desert psyche.
