After hearing about Double Wish on Stereogum and LA Buzzbands, Hit the North Records has released the debut 6 track EP from the Orange County-based dark-sunshine-pop duo. The Light Split Sparkle EP is the first release from Double Wish, a project of artists and childhood friends, Adam Sabolick and Philippe Andre.
To celebrate this release, the band will be performing a live in-store at Fingerprints Friday 6/23 at 5:30 PM.
Please submit an RSVP request if you would like to attend.
By searching for the middle point within a vast array of influences, taken from everything between The Roches, George Clanton, Pond, STRFKR, Third Eye Blind, Korn, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, and more, Double Wish arrives with a self-proclaimed dark-sunshine-pop sound. It’s a phrase that came to Sabolick after picking up on how The Mamas & The Papas album, People Like Us, operates on a psychological level, mixing the light with the dark. As a result of the inspiration from the way The Mamas & The Papas balanced the constant tension between optimism and pessimism, Light Split Sparkle bears delightful melodies and twinkling sunshine-pop jams, pairing these notions with existential and introspective thoughts from Sabolick on relationships with one another and also with himself. These thoughts were compounded throughout the pandemic when quarantining accelerated his already heightened sense of self and of others.
